Internet banking soaring in popularity, study shows
The popularity of internet banking is sky rocketing in both the UK and US, a new report has revealed.
An investigation by technological consultancy Gartner shows that almost half of all American adults and nearly a third of those in the UK use online banking frequently.
According to the group's statistics, utilising the internet to manage finances is particularly common among higher income demographics.
Research director at Gartner David Schehr said: "Over the past several years, online banking has been seen as a way of appealing to more affluent and younger clients.
"The overall level of consumer interest use and the increasingly narrow segment of nonusers … are shifting the dynamics of who is using online banking and what they seek from it."
Research published by Harvard Business School earlier this month revealed that the internet is directly responsible for the employment of 1.2 million individuals in the US.<br/>
